coin challenge 2

Coin Challenge

The next Classroom Coin Challenge is on.  RHS students gathered over $360 in October, what will November bring?

Bring in your coins on Friday, November 15th

Here’s how it works: You or your kids bring your loose coins to morning drop-off in the Aliso Yard and drop them in the jar labeled with your child’s teacher’s name. Or you can hand your coins over to the Coin Collector waiting at the at drop-off lane.

In June, the class who raised the most coin get a party.

All the proceeds raised will go to the annual PTA fundraising goal to fund the great programs that keep RHS strong. Even a few coins make a difference, so help your child’s class and RHS by supporting this new fundraiser.

1st Coin Challenge a huge success

Last Friday during morning drop off, we held our first Classroom Coin Challenge collection day.  And it was a huge success!

For October, how much was the total raised?  $360.31!!

This amount will go toward the annual PTA fundraising goal, which funds our invaluable school programs.

Remember that the Classroom Coin Challenge is also a contest!  Each month, there will be one Friday where coins will be collected for the Classroom Coin Challenge and the class that raises the most money by the end of the school year will win a special (and healthy) party!

The coins have been counted per classroom….  And the top 3 classrooms so far, are:

1) Rogers.  Total collected:  $190.03!!
2) Mahoney.  Total collected:  $48.08!!
3) Kendricks.  Total collected:  $38.29!!

A big THANK YOU to all parents and all students from all classes for enthusiastically donating your coins!

So, when is the next Classroom Coin Challenge collection day?  Friday November 15, at morning drop off.  We’ll send a reminder.  In the mean time, keep collecting those coins.

Thank you RHS community!!

pta escrip

How easy is it to sign up for eScrip?

Last year, without doing anything extraordinary, RHS made over $4000 through eScrip – this year we can do better!

If you are new to eScrip, please sign up online!

If you are an existing eScrip member, please renew online! Registration must be done annually.

It’s quick and easy and FREE!

Here’s how it works:

Register your Safeway Club Card, other grocery loyalty cards and debit cards for the eScrip program and support RHS every time you shop. After you register, up to 4% of your purchases will automatically be donated to the school by participating eScrip merchants.

If you are new to eScrip, here’s the sign up process:

1. Go to and click on “1-Sign Up.”
2. Enter the school name (Redwood Heights Elementary School) or group ID (136951810).
3. Enter your information, including your Safeway Club Card number. Follow the prompts.

Forgot your Safeway Club Card Number? Call Safeway Customer Service at 1-877-723-3929. Not currently a Safeway Club Card holder? Ask for an application at your local Safeway. Then visit to register the card.
When you shop using your Safeway or other grocery loyalty cards, or at the eScrip Online Mall, a portion of your purchases go to RHS! (Note that for eScrip Online the percentage of proceeds can be up to 10%) Some of the local merchants that contributed the most during the last three months are: Safeway, Pak N Save, and Fentons! Ask your family and friends to sign up also – a great way for extended family to help the school.

Want to know how much your individual eScrip membership contributes to RHS? eScrip tracks your purchases and makes your contribution amount available to you online.

If you are an existing eScrip member and participated last year, please renew:

1. Go to and click on “Yes, Renew!” (look for the red checkmark).

New registrations and renewals typically take less than 3 minutes to complete!

Each contribution from eScrip goes toward annual PTA fundraising school, which support our school’s Academic, Enrichment, Social/Emotional and Safety programs. Every registration helps to keep our school strong!

Thank you!

Where does the money go?

You hear from the PTA often in a fundraising capacity – from our large events such as the auction and walk-a-thon, to smaller events such as the costume swap bake sale, and to new initiatives such as the Classroom Coin Challenge to launch this month.

Why is fundraising is such an important focus of the PTA? As you can see from the chart, the dollars you provide to the PTA via direct donation, auction purchases, escrip enrollment, and more is a critical source of funding for student programs we all count on, as well as the enrichment activities that round out our children’s education.
